Fire Department

The Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department is located at 1611 Main Street. Sometime in 2023, the fire department merger between Sharpsburg’s and Aspinwall’s volunteer fire departments will be complete and they will become Southern Allegheny Valley Emergency Services (SAVES). After the merger, a Sharpsburg station will remain though the Borough’s fire protection services will officially be provided by SAVES.

The volunteer fire fighters receive regular training on topics related to fire prevention and safety as well as how to fight fires that emerge as a result of new technologies such as lithium-ion batteries. The commitment to robust training will continue to as the fire department shifts from being the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department to SAVES.

EMS

The Borough’s designated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider is Parkview EMS, a non-profit emergency service located in O’Hara Township. Parkview serves Sharpsburg as well as other surrounding communities. Parkview EMS has been providing medical services to the area since 1949.

Like other municipalities, Sharpsburg financially supports their designated EMS provider. Each year, the Borough donates to Parkview EMS to assist in maintaining quality care for residents. Parkview will also provide low-cost CPR and First Aid certification to Borough employees.

To maintain financial stability, Parkview also does an annual subscription drive. Residents who subscribe to the service receive a 75% discount on out-of-pocket ambulance service fees not paid by insurance. To become a member, contact Parkview EMS directly. The Parkview EMS phone number is 412-449-1080.
