❄️❄️ COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE NEEDED – SNOWSTORM PARKING GUIDELINES ❄️❄️
The borough is asking for community assistance as we prepare for a significant winter weather event forecast to begin Saturday evening and continue through Monday morning. Current forecasts suggest this storm could bring a substantial amount of snow, and may even be a historic winter event for our area.
To help crews safely and effectively clear roads — and to ensure emergency vehicles can travel when needed — please review and follow the parking guidelines below.
🚗 HOW TO PARK DURING THE STORM
• Park fully on the sidewalk if space allows
• If that’s not possible, get at least two wheels on the sidewalk to help widen the street for plow trucks
• Pull mirrors in
• Keep corners, intersections, and fire hydrants clear
📝 PARKING ENFORCEMENT NOTICE
• No parking tickets will be issued for vehicles parked in the designated parking lots listed below
• No parking tickets will be issued for vehicles parked on sidewalks as described above for snow removal purposes
🚫 STREETS WHERE PARKING IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED
Parking on the following streets is not prohibited, but is strongly discouraged during the storm. Vehicles parked in these areas may limit plow access and prevent full snow removal. If you are able to move your vehicle, it would be extremely helpful.
• Almeyer Street ➡️ Use the St. Mary’s Church lot
• Cecil Street (18th Street to Lavic Street) ➡️ Use the DPW parking lot (stay clear of the salt shed)
• Church Street
• High Street ➡️ Use the Korean Catholic Community Church (623 High Street)
• Short Canal
• Spring Way (ends should remain clear so plows can exit)
• 3rd Street
• 20th Street
🅿️ APPROVED PARKING LOCATIONS
• St. Mary’s Church Lot – 6th Street
• Madonna Church Lots – 9th Street and 9th & Clay
• Korean Catholic Community Church – 623 High Street
• 13th Street / Main Street Municipal Lot
• 13th Street / North Canal Municipal Lot
• DPW Garage Lot
• 1935 Main Street (paved area only)
• James Sharp Landing
🤝 HELPING EACH OTHER STAY SAFE
These guidelines are about neighbors helping neighbors. Moving vehicles when possible allows plow trucks to fully clear streets, improves access for emergency responders, and makes travel safer for everyone. We truly appreciate the cooperation, patience, and community spirit as we work through this storm together.
Thank you for your assistance and understanding. Please stay warm and safe this weekend. ❄️🤝
